I’ve been saltwater fly fishing for 50 plus years and have used some of the best fly reels on the market. This Hatch is an incredible piece of equipment. Right out of the box you can tell the workmanship is top notch. I especially like the simple design and am confident it will handle anything I put a fly to. It’s well worth the investment and am happy to have purchased two, the 7 and the 9.

Not sure I can say this but I own a Tibor Riptide, Nautilus NV 9/10 and a Hatch 9+. The 9+ is on another level.
Unless you have handled or seen a large arbor Hatch it’s hard to explain how unique and stunning these reels are. They are unlike anything made truly. It’s an iconic above an iconic.
Put it this way. If I had a Charlton reel and an iconic 9 or 11+ I would take the Hatch reel hands down.
What you see in a photo does not do justice to how awesome the 9 plus looks and feels. It’s like asking your kids which reel they would choose it’s always the Hatch.
For me I’m not to concerned about drag and durability of these upper end reel companies. I’ve only had one reel fail on me. There is just something about the 9+ that shouts confidence.

An outstanding flyreel… I run my ‘Iconic9+’ on my 10 weight flyrod and only have praise for it. So much so lm now looking at another larger ‘iconic’ for a 12 weight marlin / heavy tuna flyrod. 10 /10.
