ICONIC REEL RETRIEVE CONVERSION, LEFT TO RIGHT HAND
All Iconic reels come from Hatch set at Left Hand retrieve. However, if you need to switch to right hand, we have made the conversion easier than ever before with our Hatch Cap Wrench tool (included with every Iconic).
Iconic, Size 7-11
STEP 1
- Gather Hatch Large Iconic Cap Wrench and reel.
STEP 2
2. Slightly turn on drag before beginning. This will keep drag system aligned for later steps.
STEP 3
3. Remove the spool from the frame with a counter-clockwise turn (Remember: Righty-tighty, lefty-loosey), and set spool aside.
STEP 4
4. Use Hatch Large Iconic Cap Wrench (included with every reel) to loosen the cap from the frame. (WARNING: NO OTHER TOOLS SHOULD BE USED ON THE HATCH ICONIC REEL. DOING SO VOIDS WARRANTY.)
STEP 5
5. Once the cap is loose enough you should be able to twist it off with your hands.
STEP 6
6. Pull cap off and set to the side.
STEP 7
7. Remove one way bearing, flip 180 degrees, and reinsert so that it aligns with the drag system. When the reel is in right hand retrieve you should not be able to see any engravings on the one way bearing.
STEP 8
8. Reinstall cap by hand, twisting clockwise (Remember: Righty-tighty, lefty-loosey) to tighten.
STEP 9
9. When you can no longer tighten the cap by hand, use Hatch Large Iconic Cap Wrench to finish reinstalling cap with a few twists. It will come to a solid stop. (WARNING: NO OTHER TOOLS SHOULD BE USED ON THE HATCH ICONIC REEL. DOING SO VOIDS WARRANTY.)
STEP 10
10. Re-install spool on frame and tighten spool nut to secure.
STEP 11
11. Give reel a few spins once secure, then turn off drag.
STEP 12
12. Go fish!
