Perry McDougald
Captain Perry McDougald is a fully licensed and insured USCG Captain who is passionate about sharing his knowledge of the Crystal Coast. He got his first taste of fly fishing from his father who tried to teach him the basics to a cast on the ponds around his grandparents home. His passion for fly fishing really grew while attending college at Appalachian State University. Shortly after college, Perry moved out to Vail, CO where he began his career as a shop manager and fly fishing guide. After five years, home was calling him back and salt therapy was needed.
Perry prides himself on his work ethic, providing the best possible experience along the Crystal Coast of NC. From belly crawling and tailing redfish to chasing schools of blitzing false albacore, there is truly an abundance of opportunities along the coast for fly anglers.
His guiding career has turned his passion into another career when he recently opened Sound Side Outfitters in Swansboro, NC. As a fly shop owner and fishing guide, Perry is truly "hooked" on fishing.
