A re-introduction of our Tempest 2 pliers creates exciting options for the avid angler. Larger than our Nomad 2, the Tempest 2 is made for rigging big leaders and handling toothy fish. Utilizing Tungsten Carbide cutters in a new side cutting position makes reliable cuts through all fishing line material easier than ever. Gripping grooves added to the jaw tips easily grasp knot tag ends for ideal rigging. The I-Beam arms are crafted from 6061-T6 Aluminum and protected with Type II anodize.

Finally a set of rigging pliers that actually let me use my whole hand. Most others are tiny. Replaceable cutters, tips that meet perfectly and handles strong enough to crush barbs. Thank you Hatch for making great products.

Hatch simply makes some of the most precision and best gear available. Add to it the blue and it’s simply incredible. Granted, these are pretty big pliers, so think big fish, big line and big hooks. Guess I need another trip to the ocean.

Had to let you know how stoked I am for these Tempest 2 Plyers! I am usually fly fishing and using gear from 2-3 weight in the mountains, fishing 8 weight for redfish year round in South Carolina to offshore for Marlin tournaments. The variety of gear required to cover this much ground is vast with a wide range of material from 7x tippet to 400 lb. mono to 80+ lb. braid. As well, the rigging techniques required for the range of styles are technical and the required tackle scope is tremendous. These players have been able to handle all that I have put them through from heavy terminal tackle, to clean cuts for braided line to super close trim for 7x tag ends. To add to it, the sheath is really comfortable and substantial which is perfect when under high pressure handling the deck in a big tourney. Super happy with these players!
thanks Hatch!

I wanted to hold off on a review of these babies since I had adequate time to put them through the ringer. I knew before making the purchase that they were built to the highest standards since Hatch has always held true to quality over quantity. But I had my own thoughts and questions about their performance and wanted to confirm them. A common question you might hear from a casual fisherman/fisherwoman would be "How and Why would someone spend that much on a pair of pliers?" and its a fair question if they get out 5 or 6 times a year. And for those people there's definitely better options out there, but if your like me and you've owned the classic $30-$60 pair of pliers (and used them heavily) then yours are most likely in the same place mine have all ended up...The Trash. Without dragging this review on too far, I'll say I've used the pliers now for everything from on the water to at home leader rigging to bending hook eyes in the tying vise that needed modified and they did everything flawlessly. I've cut countless amounts of Fluorocarbon and Saltwater mono in the past few months and recently grabbed a hair (thanks to my wife) to see just how the cutters held up - They snipped through the hair perfectly and haven't hesitated on anything I've cut through from Rio Wire Bite to 100lb Fluorocarbon. These truly are worth every penny and you will be proud to own them.
