I’ve been flyfishing for more than 40 years, and I have a real problem in that I own far too many reels. The best reels I own, however, are all Hatch. Might there be a better fly fishing reel someday? Absolutely, but I haven’t seen that day! Keep making the finest fly reel in the world!

The Hatch Iconic 5+ is one of the most versatile fly reels I have put my hands on. The 5-7 fly fishing weight class is very popular for many reasons and the Iconic 5+ proves why. As a trout fisherman that enjoys being able to occasionally go out with my dad bass fishing or target saltwater species with lightweight tackle, this reel gets the job done and then some. With a smooth fine tuned very adjustable drag, this reel has little to no issue bringing any fish in that I have hooked onto.
