These reels are not only beautiful, they are surprisingly durable and they look AMAZING out in the sunshine! Absolutely stunning. Just keep in mind that the solid back adds a little bit of weight... I think of them as "+1" so my 5+ goes on a 6 or even 7 weight rod. 7+ easily does 8 & 9 weight duty.... (And, although I don't fish it this way, I'd use my 9+ in a heartbeat on even a 12 weight rod. The 9+ Jolly Roger is probably the best of all.) If you are thinking about one, and you're not doing something foolish (spending on yourself versus feeding kids), then ABSOLUTELY BUY IT NOW!!!!
But wait, this is your conscience talking to you.... Have you done something nice for your wife or children lately? Are you overdue? Don't take the good people in your life for granted. Once they are gone, you can't get them back. Think long and hard about the possibility of spending the $1k+ on a dinner and a night at a hotel with your wife? Or a trip to a theme park with the kids (sadly, each will probably run ya $1k too....).
But, if you're in a good spot, and have the $$$$$.... PULL THE TRIGGER!!!! You won't regret it.
