Chris began exploring the rivers of Oregon’s
north coast with his father at the tender age of four years old. At age eleven,
on a guided trip on Alaska’s Kenai River, Chris discovered the closest thing to
being a professional fisherman… a fishing guide! Since that day Chris has invested
over a decade exploring practically every trout and steelhead fishery in Oregon,
searching for the ideal waters to guide.
At the age of 17 Chris was confident he had found them: The Lower Deschutes River and the north Oregon coast.
Chris began his guiding career fresh out of high school. His first job was guiding
for the Numb-Butt Fly Company in Bend, Oregon. In 2005 Chris became an owner of
Adventures in Fly Fishing, a Deschutes River guide service since 1985.
Chris’ year ‘round guiding program takes you from trout and summer steelhead fishing
on the Deschutes to spey fishing for native winter steelhead on a small handful of rivers
near Tillamook on the Oregon coast. Chris resides in Maupin, Oregon on the banks of the Lower Deschutes River.

Growing up in Washington state, Shawn Taylor has loved all things outdoors
for as long as he can remember! Shawn started guiding hunting trips at 19 and owned his own bird hunting business soon after.
Shawn thought he should get serious about life and went to college in Montana. However the proximity of excellent hunting
and fishing proved to be too much and soon Shawn decided to begin guiding again. Flyfishing is his number one passion;
he calls guiding the job of instant gratification. Shawn does not measure his success by numbers or the size of the fish his clients catch,
it is about the interaction and relationships he builds through his passion.
One can find Shawn guiding flyfishing from April to November in Montana and Washington, and guiding hunting trips in November and December
at the outfitting business he owns in Illinois. He takes great pride in introducing and teaching people of all ages and skill levels
about the wonderful sport of flyfishing! Shawn believes that there’s no such thing as a bad day at his “office”; it’s just that some days are better than others. He lives by the creed of “good guides love to live through their clients experiences.”
Shawn’s flyfishing has taken him and his family (wife, Joy, and two sons, Cy and Chase) to Alaska, Montana, and most recently back home
to the state of Washington. It is here that Shawn also owns Evergreen Anglers and is heading the flyfishing operation at Northern Lights Lodge
in NE Washington for rainbow trout as well as steelhead on specific waters.

Greg is the manager of Pelican Bay Bonefishing in The Bahamas.
Although considered one of the premier flats fishing operations in The Islands, specializing
in trophy sized bonefish and permit, Greg has also developed an offshore fly fishing program
targeting a mix of offshore gamefish.
The program however specializes in large Yellowfin Tuna on the fly. Greg’s program is
developing each year in it’s ability to attract a wide range of anglers from the very
experienced to the complete novice. He has developed a saltwater flats fly-fishing school as
well as an offshore fly-fishing school.
Greg is about to enter his 6th year of operations at this location and spends a lot of his down
time fishing personally, researching new options and areas both on the flats as well as inshore
and offshore waters. Many a night is spent at his trusty vice and you may well recognize many of
his Bonefishing patterns being sold internationally.
Look for his latest patterns being sold in The US for 2006. Even with so much experience behind
him it is very evident when you meet Greg today how passionate he still is about the sport of fly-fishing.
He is always ready to share his experience and knowledge and enjoys teaching the skills he has
been shown and those he has developed himself over the years. With almost 20 years in the fly-fishing
travel business Greg is undoubtedly part of a relatively minute core of the Industry.
Greg’s thirst for fly fishing experiences in tandem with his existing experience in both
the many salt and freshwater disciplines of the sport has put Greg in a unique situation of being
able to travel almost anywhere and immediately be productive.

Growing up, Capt. Steve Friedman
spent his summers playing in the waters near his grandparents’ house
in central Illinois. The small lake, home to bluegill,
bass, crappie, catfish and carp, sparked his curiosity
for freshwater fishing. His interest in angling grew
as he did, and as his skills increased so did his quest
to fish as much as possible.
While attending graduate classes in New Mexico, he spent
countless days on the banks of the San Juan River pursuing
rainbow and brown trout. When he returned to his hometown,
Chicago, he explored the Great Lakes and spent his vacations
fishing hot spots in Florida, Costa Rica, the Virgin
Islands and the Bahamas where his passion for saltwater
fishing blossomed.
His zeal for fishing took him then to Vail, Colorado,
where he guided anglers down the white waters of the
Colorado, Eagle and Roaring Fork Rivers, hot on the trail
of brown, rainbow and brook trout. Wanting to fish year
round, Capt. Steve permanently relocated to South Florida
to guide full time in the Florida Keys, where he now
lives in Islamorada with his wife Kris and son, Benjamin.
Since 1998, Capt. Steve has been guiding anglers of all
ages and abilities through their fishing hopes and dreams.
His focus is fly-fishing and fly-casting instruction,
but he is skilled in all types of fishing. He trailers
his specialized flats boat, an 18-foot skiff by Hells
Bay Boatworks, and charters from Key West to Biscayne
Bay and Whitewater Bay. On most days however, you’ll
find Capt. Steve polling the flats of Islamorada and
the Florida Bay in Everglades National Park. He can be
reached by phone at 305-393-FISH, steve@afishingguide.com by
email, or through his website at www.afishingguide.com.

great experience that they will remember.
Captain Justin is a licensed United States Coast Guard certified captain. He has been guiding in the

Roger’s life has been intertwined
with the lore and respect for a fishery that only five
generations of west coast commercial fishing can imbed.
Having had his sea fairing legs from birth, sport fishing
was merely a means to keep busy little hands away from
the deck hands were the serious fishing was taking place.
At the tender age of twelve Rogers first experience with
a fly rod came off the back of a commercial boat where
Coho and Sea Bass came easy. Since he has used the limber
rod to put quite a few more species under his belt including
Striped Marlin all 5 species of pacific salmon Yellow
fin Tuna Rooster fish Sea Run Cutthroat by the buckets
Rainbow Brown & Kamloops trout and of course the life
changing Steelhead.
Eighteen years at the helm of a commercial salmon troller
as one of BCs finest captains, left Rogers searching
for more. In the late 80s he tempted fate by procuring
FLY H2O Fly Fishing Charters where he help pioneer open
ocean fly tossing for Pacific Salmon. This endeavour
did not always come easy as information on the subject
was scarce, to say the least. Through perseverance hours
at the tying bench and years on the water, Roger began
finding consistent result particularly when it came to
Chinook which are still considered fairly uncatchable
by most fly anglers. Things have since change dramatically
as the information age has taken hold of fly fishing
and many of Rogers previous secret fly fishing haunts
are now house hold names on the west coats of BC. Luckily
he has been able to find a few more.
Currently Roger is the premier head fly fishing guide
and casting instructor for Queen Charlotte Lodge arguably
BCs finest saltwater lodge. When not working he can be
found hunting steelhead spey rod in hand on the mighty
Thompson River or chasing Kamloop trout through BCs interior
high country. In short Roger is a very respected well
rounded angler whose innovation and respect for his quarry
has won him the admiration and respect of his fellow
angler.

Brian Schmidt cut his teeth on the
spring creeks of Pennsylvania. Fly fishing and tying
flies became more than a hobby for Brian at an early
age and his success has made his dream come true. Having
spent the better part of his life on the East Coast (lived
in New Brunswick Canada, Pa. and spent many summers on
the beaches from N.Y. to N.C.) he had numerous fishing
opportunities for many species of fish. Among his favorites
are Strippers and Blues in the salt though he would take
an opportunity to explore small mountain streams for
the little gems they hold any day. He’s been heard saying
that he’s “never been too proud to catch a small fish!”

Mike has lived to fish for all of
his adult life and his passion has evolved into a full
time career. As a member of the first wave of guides
on the Green River in Utah in the 80's, he camped behind
the hanger at the Dutch John airport for years with some
of the most influential names in the fly fishing world.
Fishing and guiding in the daytime and talking fishing
with the boys by the campfire in the evening led to the
development of many of today's standard trout flies and
techniques. Mike credits this experience as the basis
of his knowledge, comparable to an advanced degree in
cold water fisheries.
Expanding his horizons, Mike branched
out to numerous rivers and streams in the intermountain
west, guiding in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. Winters
were spent in the warmer southern climates, fishing the
seasons in Costa Rica, the Florida Keys and New Zealand.
Mike helped establish the fishing programs at Seven Lakes
Lodge and Three Forks Ranch near his base in Steamboat
Springs, Colorado, leading to new fly fishing opportunities.
These exclusive lodges offer private water, world class
fly fishing to a limited number of clientele. Many well
known celebrities were guests, and Mike was involved
in numerous television fishing productions.
Settling
in recent years in San Diego, he currently lives on his
36' sloop on San Diego Bay. Mike fishes daily from his
skiff for light tackle inshore species, targeting spotted
bay bass, halibut, white seabass, corbina, croakers and
bonito. Summers are spent guiding the famous Musky rivers
near Hayward, Wisconsin. He is also involved with various
stream restoration projects and guides an exclusive clientele
on private water in Colorado. You can reach him at 602-617-9735

Cale was supposed to be a doctor, or a lawyer, or take over his father’s ski shops in Colorado,
but became a squashy fish bum instead. In fact, his father wanted to make him the next Tiger Woods, starting golf lessons at age seven,
which Cale promptly ditched, sneaking off with his foam grip South Bend Fly rod to catch miniature Brook trout out of Ten Mile creek.
After his third absence from the lessons, the golf pro called Cale’s father, and Cale received a whomping.
“It was a good hurt ya know, kinda made the whole fly fishing thing that much more intriguing,” Cale says recalling the story.
He began guiding in 1996 in Colorado, and now resides and guides in Bozeman, Montana. He has traded a fair number of girlfriends
for days on the water and believes one of these disgruntled maidens has cursed him with a receding hair line, which burns routinely
in the summer. He dulls the pain with damn fine margaritas from his hand crank blender in his boat, which he shares with the right kind
of clientele. Oh yeah, his drift boat has speakers too…though he claims he only jams out on days off when he goes carp fishing.
